DESCRIPTION
Informed by research on cumbia dance and music, references to artists and dancers that have popularized the genre appear in ¿Te suena? This piece is inspired by the multiple forms cumbia takes across Mexico, South Texas, Colombia, and performances by musicians that have traversed these regions. Choreographically, the work experiments with form and moves across a range of dance genres, driven by fusions in its musical score. ¿Te suena? prioritizes the creation of a community of dancers on stage, united by contemporary rhythms of cumbia.
